We are pleased to offer this very large and rare vintage mid-century Buddha head sculpture lamp on wood base! It features a lovely conch shell motif detail and sits on a square wood block base. Harp and finial included. This is a very handsome, strong, distinctive piece! There is a symbolic significance to the Buddha’s elongated earlobes. In Eastern cultures, large ears are associated with wisdom and revered by others (think Lord Ganesha and in more modern times, Mahatma Gandhi). These are ears that are big enough to listen to all our tales of suffering. Magnanimity and compassion therefore are also qualities linked to such physical features and the Buddha was certainly the embodiment of these virtues. Measures: Lamp: 44 ½” overall height, Base: 20 ½” high x 8 ½” square and weighs 40 pounds. Condition: Very good working condition with normal signs of wear.
