We are pleased to offer this original 1933 original oil painting on canvas signed by the artist Richard Hall, in lower right corner. After the artist’s signature is the date of 1933, which is the year in which the artist completed this three-quarter portrait painting of a well-dressed seated gentleman. This gorgeous ornate gilt frame is very heavy and measures 40” wide x 54.5” high and has a metal plate in the lower center that reads: Richard Hall. Canvas measures 32” wide x 46” high. Condition Report: Frame and canvas are both in good condition with wear as expected with age; canvas shows some cracking/wear and is not securely attached to the frame. Frame is chipped in various areas of the frame as shown in pictures.
About the artist: Richard Hall (1860 – 1942) born in Pori, Finland as a son of the British businessman William R. Hall. Richard was a Finnish-born painter who made his career in France, United States and Argentina. He is best known of his portraits, but also painted other genres such as still life paintings, flower motifs, intimate and homely sceneries, and landscape.
